The ridiculously eloquent Francesco Risso had a rough start to his tenure at Marni. The first creative director to design for the house after the departure of Consuelo Castiglioni- who has a fierce fan club - was kind of damned if he did and damned if he didn't. But he did - take chances, that is, and the dishevelled prep he presented at his second men's show in June changed the public's tune. Things were looking up at Marni, but Risso still needed to prove himself on the all-important women's front. Instead of reeling in his risky moves, you've got to commend the former Prada designer for going all out on Sunday morning in Milan, designing (and styling) up a storm in a collection mad as a box of frogs. How could the crazy theatre he presented not make you smile?
